Manitobans can enjoy free access to all provincial parks for the next year, starting this spring break, the provincial government announced.
“Whether you love to hike, canoe or just want to relax surrounded by nature, we encourage all Manitobans to visit our provincial parks, as no vehicle permit is required,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes on Tuesday.
The initiative was first revealed in last month’s provincial budget, which includes $18 million to improve park infrastructure, such as new washroom and shower facilities at St. Malo and West Hawk Lake, as well as campground upgrades at Spruce Woods, Grand Beach, and Hecla/Grindstone. Visitors to Whiteshell’s West Hawk Lake will also see a restored Crescent Beach seawall with an accessible ramp and beach access mat.
New playgrounds will open this season in parks including Whiteshell, Clearwater Lake, Winnipeg Beach, and Turtle Mountain.
