The Manitoba government is investing more than $138,000 from the proceeds of crime to support community safety initiatives in southern Manitoba.
The funding, distributed through the Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund, will support several one-time projects:
- Winkler Police Service – $99,000 for a regional policing model study in Winkler and Morden, plus $22,165 for medical equipment to launch a licensed police emergency medical support unit.
- Manitoba Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP) on behalf of the RCMP – $15,000 for a violence threat risk-assessment training session in Steinbach for officers, educators and community partners.
- MACP on behalf of Steinbach RCMP – $2,500 for the Headway START program to help at-risk youth and their families.
Justice officials said the program ensures the proceeds of crime are redirected to projects that protect families and enhance safety.
