The Manitoba government has launched a disaster financial assistance program following this year’s record wildfire season.

The program will support municipalities and local authorities directly impacted by wildfires or those that incurred major costs hosting evacuees. Eligible expenses include emergency response, recovery efforts, relief support, and long-term mitigation strategies.

“This has been the most severe wildfire season in Manitoba’s history,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor.

“Lives have been lost, families displaced and communities deeply affected. Our government stands with Manitobans during this difficult time and is committed to helping municipalities rebuild and recover.”

Full program details, including eligibility and application information, are available on the provincial website.
