The Forks has launched its Trail Together campaign, inviting Manitobans to help support the iconic Nestaweya River Trail by “adopting” a metre of trail for $50.
The winter attraction, which runs along the frozen Red and Assiniboine rivers, draws more than 200,000 visitors each season. Maintaining the trail requires daily ice checks, snow clearing, and constant monitoring to keep it safe and accessible.
“Our team spends hundreds of hours preparing the trail long before anyone laces a skate,” says Sara Stasiuk, president and CEO of The Forks.
“Support from the community helps us invest in the work needed to open the trail and give people a special reason to go outdoors during the frostiest months.”
Funds raised will help build and maintain both the skating and walking paths, with donations redirected to other winter activities at The Forks if river conditions limit access.
Donations can be made on The Forks’ website.
