A Manitoba company has been fined after a fatal workplace incident at Wintec Building Services Inc.

Manitoba Labour and Immigration says a worker was killed on July 20, 2022, while working for the company after falling into the blades of an unguarded radiator fan. Workplace Safety and Health officials investigated and laid charges under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.

On January 27, 2026, the company pleaded guilty to failing to ensure alternate protective measures were in place when machine safeguards were removed or made ineffective.

The court imposed a $50,000 fine, along with an additional $20,000 that must be used for public education on occupational safety and health.
