The Gas Station Arts Centre is receiving $600,000 from the federal government to help renovate its arts performance space.
The Winnipeg organization has already begun a multi-year redevelopment project, including significant upgrades to the Osborne Village facility: an expanded lobby, fully modernized gender-neutral washrooms and new specialized equipment.
Other planned upgrades include a complete revitalization of the courtyard, including the installation of permanent fencing.
The funding, announced on Friday, is coming through Canadian Heritage’s Canada Cultural Spaces Fund.
“As we evolve with a variety of performances, our artists and patrons are so excited about the changes that have and continue to happen to make the area an active and enjoyable experience,” said Nick Kowalchuk, GSAT executive director, in a release.
