The Manitoba government and the Town of Niverville are jointly funding a $17.7 million reconstruction of Provincial Road 311.
The province is contributing $9.7 million to the project, which will reconstruct and modernize PR 311 from just west of Wallace Road to Fifth Avenue, building on a previously completed segment from Fifth Avenue to Sixth Avenue South.
Improvements include expanding the western half of the corridor from two lanes to four, land drainage upgrades, additional turning lanes, a new roundabout, and upgraded traffic signals and municipal street connections.
“Being the fastest-growing community in Manitoba, the Town of Niverville is keenly aware of the strain put on our local infrastructure,” said Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck, in a release. “There is no place this is more evident than along PR 311, the backbone of our community.”
Design work is nearly complete, with tendering expected in 2026 and construction to follow.
Once construction is complete, ownership and maintenance responsibility for PR 311 from Wallace Road to Sixth Avenue South will transfer to the municipality.
