Adam Bighill is ending his career where it mattered most.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed the veteran linebacker to a one-day contract so he can officially retire as a member of the club.
Bighill, 37, spent six of his 13 CFL seasons in Winnipeg, winning back-to-back Grey Cups with the Bombers in 2019 and 2021. He played his final game last season with the Calgary Stampeders before hanging up his cleats.
One of the most decorated defenders in league history, Bighill was named a CFL All-Star six times and won the most outstanding defensive player award three times — twice as a Bomber in 2018 and 2021. He finished his career with 951 tackles, sixth all-time in the CFL, and ranks second in franchise history with 430 defensive tackles.
Bighill and his family remain in Winnipeg following his retirement.
