It brings new meaning to casual Fridays.
Canadians are encouraged to wear their lifejackets to work on Friday as the kickoff to Safe Boating Week, which runs May 16-22 this year.
The annual campaign runs to remind folks as they head out to cottage country this long weekend to be safe and responsible in and around lakes and rivers.
Manitobans are asked to remember to wear their lifejackets, never boat impaired, take a boating course and to ensure they have supplies like water, first aid and other things they might need while enjoying the province’s waterways.
“This province has some of the best parks, beaches and bodies of water in the country. I’m encouraging all Manitobans to get out and enjoy these attractions safely,” said Lynne Stefanchuk, Manitoba Coalition for Safer Waters Chair & Lifesaving Society Manitoba’s executive director.
