Fetch your peanuts and puppy treats — the Winnipeg Goldeyes are calling all good boys and girls back to the ballpark for the eighth annual Bark in the Park game on August 15.
The dog-friendly event invites fans to bring their pets along to enjoy a Goldeyes game as the team hosts the Sioux City Explorers. Players will wear special Pet Pic jerseys, which will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation, while 50/50 tickets sold at the game and online will support the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter.
“Bark in the Park continues to be a Goldeyes fan favourite and is always one of the most enjoyable and unique events on our promotional calendar,” said Dan Chase, the Goldeyes’ director of sales and marketing, adding the event gives fans a chance to enjoy the ballpark with their dogs while supporting a local organization.
Dogs need tickets too: advance Bark in the Park packages, which include a seat for one dog and one owner, are on sale for $18 or $28 per package, plus fees and taxes. Additional human tickets are available for $21.50 for baseline seats or $29.50 for dugout seats, plus fees and taxes.
The event will feature dog-themed entertainment, giveaways and treats, with the first 500 dogs through the gates receiving a complimentary treat bag courtesy of Petland and event sponsors. Promotions include a pre-game Pooch Parade at 5:30 p.m., along with the Paw-Paw-Razzi Photo Wall, Pooch Smooch Cam and 5th Inning Fetch.
Dogs and owners will enter through a special gate at the northeast end of the ballpark near the playground, with designated potty areas and watering holes available near the registration tents and behind the stands.
Game time is 6 p.m. Tickets are available online.
