An explosion damaged a two-storey Winnipeg apartment building Wednesday, though no serious injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to the 300 block of Clare Avenue for reports of the explosion just before noon. Firefighters found damage to the building upon arrival, but didn’t locate any ongoing hazards, including any signs of a fire.

The building was evacuated as a precaution. Paramedics assessed one person at the scene, but they didn’t require transport to hospital, and no other injuries were reported.

The city’s emergency social services team offered displaced residents temporary support.

The incident remains under investigation, but preliminary observations suggest the explosion was accidental. Damage estimates aren’t yet available.
