Shaw Communications has backed out of a deal to purchase three television stations owned by CTV, including Brandon’s CKX-TV, and stations in Windsor and Wingham.
No reason was given as to why they have decided not to go ahead with the transaction, originally announced in April. Late Tuesday afternoon, CTVglobemedia Inc. issued the following statement via a news release.
Shaw Communications informed us this afternoon that they will not be proceeding with the purchase of CTVglobemedia’s television stations in Windsor, Wingham and Brandon.
The announcement comes on the same day Canwest announced that Channel Zero Inc. would be purchasing two of its smaller stations in Hamilton and Montreal.
The battle to save CKX-TV is back on.
