Canada’s major TV networks will come together on Friday to ‘stand up’ to fight cancer. The primetime special “Stand Up to Cancer” will return with Citytv, CTV and Global TV donating one hour of simultaneous commercial-free coverage to the fundraiser.
Dozens of celebrities will take part, including Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, Michael C. Hall, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sofia Vergara and George Clooney.
The U.S.-based broadcast will be dedicated to all cancer survivors and illustrate how groundbreaking research can change the tide in the fight against the disease.
The 2008 telecast helped raise over $100 million. Canadian viewers can donate by calling 1-888-907-8263 or online at StandUp2Cancer.org.
The broadcast will air in conjunction with the major U.S. networks on September 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT.
