Shaw Communications will offer Bell Media’s “TSN Jets” channel as a free preview to subscribers until December 1.
The cable provider announced Friday the channel will be available in HD and standard definition on both Shaw and Shaw Direct beginning September 20.
Viewers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and parts of Northwestern Ontario will enjoy more than 60 pre-season and regular season games.
The channel was announced August 31, as part of the broadcast deal between Bell Media and True North Sports and Entertainment. Up until this point, only Bell TV subscribers were promised access to the coveted speciality channel.
In a tweet to ChrisD.ca, a Shaw spokesperson said after the free preview, TSN Jets will be $9.95/month, stating it will cost less than $1 per game.
Earlier on Friday, True North president and CEO Jim Ludlow said he was confident Bell would come to an agreement with all cable providers servicing the Winnipeg area to make the channel available. True North was not involved in the negotiations on that front.
MTS TV subscribers will still have to wait to hear if the channel will be offered in their lineup. Company spokesperson Selena Hinds was quoted last week as saying MTS is still in talks with Bell, and the outstanding issue remains around pricing.
