Winnipeg’s Sports Radio 1290 will undergo a rebranding beginning Wednesday, when it becomes TSN Radio 1290.

Bell Media announced the switch Monday, putting both Winnipeg’s station and Montreal’s “THE TEAM 1290” under the more recognizable TSN brand.

TSN Radio 1290 will remain the official radio broadcaster of the Winnipeg Jets, as will TSN TV.

“We are always looking to strengthen and extend the TSN brand by continuing to bring Canadians industry-leading sports content wherever they are,” TSN president Stewart Johnston said in a release. “TSN Radio and its local focus has quickly made a significant impact on the Toronto landscape and we are looking forward to doing the same in the key Montreal and Winnipeg markets.”

TSN Radio 1290 will continue to air “Hustler & Lawless” weekdays, as well as “The Big Show” with Jets PA announcer Jay Richardson and former long-time Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Troy Westwood.

Besides the local lineup, the station will air TSN-branded packages from the sports talent you see while watching the network’s flagship TV channel.
