Evanov Radio Group has acquired multilingual Winnipeg radio station CKJS AM 810, and what was formerly K-Rock/Hank FM (CHNK FM).
Over the weekend, the broadcast company took over the two stations from Newcap Inc. As a result of the acquisition, CHNK has been rebranded as CFJL FM 100.7 (The Lounge), “Winnipeg’s Christmas Music Station.” A new format for the station will be unveiled on December 26. CKJS AM 810 will retain its current format.
Evanov also owns Energy 106, which it launched last summer as the city’s newest top 40/CHR station. Energy also has changed its call letters from CFJL to CHWE.
Did you catch all those letters? There’s a lot of ’em.
“We are looking forward to delivering an entertaining and informative radio service for the citizens and businesses of Winnipeg,” company president Bill Evanov said in a release.
Updated at 1:58 p.m. to reflect K-Rock under the CHNK call letters.
