Manitoba justice officials are adding 11 more Crown prosecutors and six support staff to assist in an increasing workload.

Justice Minister Andrew Swan announced Wednesday the additions will improve efficiency and effectiveness in the justice system.

“The new staff we are adding in critical areas across the justice system will enhance life in our communities and make the justice system function better,” Swan said. “Manitobans have the right to feel safe at all times and the measures we’re taking today are another down payment on commitments we made to Manitoba families.”

The province is also hiring six sheriffs and creating 7.5 court clerk positions.
