Gordon Bell High School will be awarded $40,000 today to fund an after-school program for students aged 12-18.
The funding comes from the RBC Foundation and First Book Canada and will be presented during a morning assembly.
The program provides homework assistance in students’ native languages, literacy instruction, language tutoring, sporting activities, nutrition guidance, and leadership and mentoring opportunities.
The school will also receive a $500 credit towards the order of brand new books and reading materials for the program.
RBC Olympians Jill Officer and Jared Funk will be on hand at the 11 a.m. event.
