The curtain has been pulled back on the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s 2014-15 season — and theatre buffs are in for a treat.
A packed season of live drama, comedy and passionate character actors will grace the John Hirsch Mainstage and the Tom Hendry Warehouse.
The season opens October 2 with “Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily,” followed by “The Heart of Robin Hood” on November 13.
“At the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre this season, storytellers will delight and transform you,” said artistic director Steven Schipper.
“Robin Hood’s merry men will swing from our rafters, audiences will be drawn into the seductive hedonistic dream of pre-war Berlin cabaret, a legendary actress will ensnare Sherlock Holmes with a necklace crafted from Britain’s crown jewels, and a great blues singer will shimmy her way over to our Warehouse for an intimate and intoxicating evening of music.”
While 2014 is relatively fresh, 2015 will begin with “Cabaret” on January 8, as “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” keep things going beginning next February 12. Those are just some of the handful of plays happening at MTC over the next year. The complete schedule is available at MTC.mb.ca.
Subscription packages for the 2014-15 season start at $115, and current Royal MTC subscribers can begin renewing their seats starting April 5 by calling (204) 942-6537, online or in person at 174 Market Avenue.
