Boys and Girls Clubs of WinnipegEleven inner-city youth will graduate from a certificate program today for their dedication and desire to make positive changes in their lives.

The Youth Recreation Activity Worker Program is a joint venture between the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg and Red River College. The program trains young adults facing barriers to obtaining their post-secondary education to be leaders in the recreation field.

Many of the youth broke free from their struggles with poverty, violence and gangs to get an education.

Graduates of the full-time, nine-month program can apply credits to Red River College’s Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma Program.

The ceremony will take place at RRC’s Princess Street campus at 12:30 p.m.
