A community stage in the city’s West End will honour outgoing University of Winnipeg president and vice-chancellor Lloyd Axworthy.
The Axworthy Community Stage is located at the northeast corner of Ellice Avenue and Spence Street in Saigon Park. The naming recognizes Axworthy’s decade of contributions to the U of W and the surrounding community.
“The University of Winnipeg has deep roots in the inner city and West End neighbourhoods which are among the most diverse communities in Canada, and Saigon Park reflects and values this global village feeling,” Axworthy said. “It is my deep honour to be associated with this park.”
