A new basketball court at Oxford Heights Community Centre is opening to the public tonight.
The new court, located at 359 Dowling Avenue East, features an outdoor rubber playing surface, square glass backboards, collapsible rims, 10-foot fencing and lighting.
Community centre officials partnered with the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association to make the court a reality, which was also supported by all three levels of government, along with the Transcona Playground Renewal Association.
The total cost of the project was $162,000.
Dignitaries will deliver brief remarks at 6:15 p.m. before the first game.
