
The future Canada Games Sport for Life Centre on Pacific Avenue.
WINNIPEG — Ottawa is providing up to $10.35 million over three years to the 2017 Canada Games host society.
A new training facility in Winnipeg will see $3 million from the fund for the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre.
“We’re pleased to see the federal government’s continuing support for the Canada Games and commitment to funding sport and athlete development,” said Jeff Hnatiuk, president and CEO of the 2017 Canada Games Host Society.
“Facilities like the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre will enable us to deliver an exceptional athlete experience at the 2017 Canada Games, while leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit athletes and the broader community for years to come.”
The 124,000-square-foot training centre will have multifunctional rooms, three of which will be convertible spaces, physical fitness rooms, spaces for aerobic workouts, plyometrics and physical tests, and an indoor training track.
