KidSport Winnipeg has formed a partnership with St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen.
The Winnipeg-born NHL star was in the city Saturday to announce the working relationship along with Great Big Adventure.
Steen is the owner of the 12,000-square-foot family entertainment centre, which opened in 2013.
“Playing organized sports was a big boost for me growing up in Winnipeg,” said Steen.
“Along with forming many great friendships, organized sport taught me some key fundamentals and values for life. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to play organized sports without financial obstacles.”
Great Big Adventure will donate 10 cents from every paid admission to KidSport Winnipeg from September 2015 to September 2016. The minimum guaranteed donation will be $5,000.
Funds will be used to help pay sport registration fees for kids from financially disadvantaged families.
The play centre is located at 960 Lorimer Boulevard.
