Asessippi Ski Area & Resort and Stony Mountain Ski Area will open on Saturday. (HANDOUT)
It’s something winter ski enthusiasts have been waiting for and the big day is almost here.
Asessippi Ski Area & Resort in western Manitoba and Stony Mountain Ski Area north of Winnipeg both plan to open for the season on Saturday.
A Colorado low weather system that dumped upwards of 25 cm on parts of the province between Wednesday and Thursday, paired with cooler temperatures, has created ideal skiing conditions.
Asessippi says its first chair will run at 10 a.m. and all the runs on the quad will be open, including terrain park.
Stony Mountain will also open at 10 a.m. with the rope tow only. The bunnyhill will not open until Wednesday, December 23.
Springhill Winter Park hasn’t yet announced its season-opening plans.
