A re-elected NDP government would create public and community-operated child care centres at a cost of $25 million through a capital fund.

Leader Greg Selinger said on Sunday his party would add at least 100 spaces in St. James alone.

“Affordable, high-quality child care is a major priority for working families and one of the keys to building a stronger middle class,” Selinger said.

Selinger added the funding would come on top of an existing $25 million pledge to build child care centres in schools.
