Details for this year’s Pride Winnipeg Festival have been announced, setting the tone for 10 days of celebrations to mark the 29th annual event.
Grand marshal Gayle Pruden will lead the Pride Parade this year. The Ojibwe, two-spirit/trans woman has helped the community by using her cultural teachings to be an inspiration to people of all nations. Chelsea Hertzog will be this year’s honorary youth marshal.
Manitoba Lieutenant Governor Janice Filmon will address the crowd at the Pride Rally on the steps of the Manitoba legislature on Pride Day, Sunday, June 5.
Festivities will get underway with the official Pride Winnipeg opening party on May 27. 441 Main will host Alice in Prideland. Earlier in the day, the Rainbow Flag will be raised outside of City Hall.
The Noble Thiefs, Mise en Scene, The Revival, Sc Mira, and Iskwé will perform during a two-day outdoor concert at The Forks during pride weekend.
The Pride Winnipeg Festival runs May 27 to June 5.
