Manitoba Hydro is warning homeowners of door-to-door solicitors trying to sell unsuspecting people a new furnace or water filtration system.
Hydro says they have received reports from across the province of individuals asking to enter a home to inspect a furnace or test water conditions. The homeowner is then offered the option to rent or buy a new system.
“Manitoba Hydro is not involved in any of these programs, and advises homeowners to deny entry,” the public utility said in a release.
Hydro says they do occasionally visit homes for various reasons, but all employees carry an official identification card with their name and photo.
Anyone with doubts should call Manitoba Hydro at 1-888-624-9376 before allowing anyone into their home.
