RCMP have charged a 34-year-old man from Belmont, Manitoba after a fatal crash last fall.
Johny Quevedo claimed to have been a passenger in a vehicle that rolled on Highway 23 on the evening of September 17, 2016 about one kilometre east of Ninette.
The crash killed a 32-year-old Belmont man, and sent the suspect and another man to hospital.
After a four-month investigation, police determined Quevedo was driving the car impaired and was not a passenger as originally claimed.
The deceased was not wearing a seatbelt, while the other two occupants were.
Quevedo is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and obstructing justice.
He will appear in Boissevain Provincial Court on February 22.
