Mounties say a resident reported 12 handguns were stolen from a locked gun safe in a garage in the RM of Springfield on Monday morning. Officers couldn’t locate any suspects in the break and enter.

An overdue pilot was rescued Monday after his plane experienced mechanical issues and left him stranded on a Manitoba lake.

The 71-year-old Ashern man departed Sunday morning to a camp at Sisib Lake, south of Grand Rapids, but never made it to his destination.

OTTAWA — The federal government is creating an external board of civilian advisers to help the RCMP modernize after years of grappling with internal bullying and harassment.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki announced the plan for a management advisory board today at a news conference in Ottawa.

Two people from Split Lake, Manitoba have been charged after RCMP found cocaine and weapons in the community.

Officers executed a search warrant at a home on January 11, seizing 32 grams of cocaine, four shotguns and five rifles, two pellet guns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
