Motorcycle Ride for Dad Raises $300K for Prostate Cancer Research

WINNIPEG — A record-setting 1,547 riders rode up Saturday in the TELUS Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad.

The annual fundraiser brought in approximately $300,000 to fight prostate cancer. This brings the 10-year total to more than $2.4 million, all of which remains in Manitoba for prostate cancer research and education.

“Thank you riders, pledge donors, sponsors and volunteers,” said MRFD co-chair Kirk Van Alstyne.

“The TELUS Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad continues to lead the nation for funds raised and total number of registered riders.

Starting from the Polo Park Shopping Centre parking lot next to Earls, motorcycle riders rode west in a police-escorted parade down Portage Avenue to Assiniboia Downs, then north to Selkirk, Gimli and back. The day-long event culminates with a wind-up celebration at Cowboys, Canad Inns Windsor Park.
