There’s a new man on first.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed Kyle Martin, a first baseman, prior to tonight’s game vs the Sioux City Explorers.

While playing at two levels of the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization last year, Martin hit a combined .198 and he racked up 10 home runs with 45 RBI in 110 games.

This is the fifth professional baseball season for the 26-year-old Martin. The left-handed hitter and fielder is originally from Greenville, South Carolina.

Martin will be in the starting lineup during tonight’s game at Shaw Park. The Winnipeg Goldeyes are playing game three of a four-game series against the Sioux City Explorers. The boys hit the field at 7:05 p.m.

The Goldeyes’ active players roster of 23 is the American Association’s maximum.
