A man was injured Thursday morning after jumping from a roof of a Brandon home in an effort to evade police.

It all began just before midnight when officers tried to stop a vehicle that was driving dangerously in the wrong direction of an eastbound lane in the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue.

Police pursued the vehicle as it left city limits but later returned to Brandon, speeding over a curb and flattening the driver’s side tires.

The driver eventually stopped in the 600 block of McDiarmid Drive and fled on foot. Police used the canine unit to track him through yards, where he then climbed up onto the roof of an Almond Crescent home. He jumped to the ground and was arrested at around 12:45 a.m.

Police say the suspect suffered injuries in the jump and was taken to Brandon hospital, where he was treated and released back into custody.

The 22-year-old man faces numerous charges and was the subject of a parole revocation warrant.

Officers also arrested a female passenger but released her without charges.
