(CITY OF WINNIPEG / FILE)
City of Winnipeg crews will begin plowing major streets and bus routes at 11 p.m. tonight as snow accumulates on local roadways.
Salting operations are already underway on main routes to improve traction for motorists.
Plowing will be focused on priority one and two streets and sidewalks.
No winter parking bans are currently in effect.
A Colorado low weather system making its way northward into southern Manitoba is expected to drop between 10-15 cm of snow on Winnipeg into Friday. The same system is bringing mostly rain east of the city, with higher impact snow accumulation west of Winnipeg.
The city advises motorists to factor in additional travel time getting to their destinations, slow down for the road conditions, allow appropriate stopping distances, and stay back from heavy equipment working to clear streets.
