Two people have died after a house fire in Norway House on Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to the fire on Mission Island Road at around 2:30 a.m. and found the structure engulfed in flames.

Several people managed to escape the fire, but a five-year-old child and a 45-year-old man were unaccounted for. Firefighters located their two bodies inside once the flames were extinguished. RCMP say the bodies are believed to be those of the child and adult. Autopsies have been scheduled.

RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
