A 29-year-old Winnipeg semi-truck driver has been charged following a fatal crash Friday in Elm Creek, Manitoba.

RCMP say a southbound semi-trailer was travelling through the intersection of PTH 2 and PTH 13 at around 6 a.m. when it was struck by an eastbound pickup truck.

The 34-year-old Haywood man driving the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The semi driver was arrested for criminal negligence causing death and remains in custody.

RCMP say alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be factors in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate.
