RE: Workspace is a new initiative from the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ to encourage people to work downtown again during the pandemic. (HANDOUT)
WINNIPEG — A new outdoor workspace in downtown Winnipeg is encouraging people to pull up a seat to get their work done in a unique environment.
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ has launched RE: Workspace at 375 Broadway next to Capital Grill & Bar. The space boasts multiple workstations in a brightly decorated setting, featuring free Wi-Fi and power outlets, collaborative workspaces for teams or meetings and use of office supplies.
“We wanted to create an exciting public space to encourage folks who have been working from home to spend their time downtown again,” says Kate Fenske, CEO, Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.
“The pandemic has changed the way people work, and as more employers are talking about flexible remote work, RE: Workspace gives employees and students an outside office option. We hope it reminds them of the benefits of working downtown and meeting with folks in person.”
The space isn’t limited to just downtown workers, but students, freelancers and others can also make use of the workstations. Tables can be booked online or walk-ups can be accommodated if space allows.
RE: Workspace is available Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting (until it gets too cold). Workstations are sanitized between guests and BIZ ambassadors are onsite to answer any questions.
