Manitoba RCMP say one woman has died after a crash involving a jet ski and a boat on the Whitemund River.

The crash happened Saturday afternoon, north of Road 81 N, in the RM of Westlake-Gladstone.

According to police, five people on a boat travelling north and two people on a Sea-Doo personal watercraft going south, collided as they came around a bend in the river.

The two injured people of the Sea-Doo were taken aboard the boat where they returned to a nearby campground to meet with first responders.

The 31-year-old man driving the Sea-Doo, from Portage la Prairie, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 39-year-old female passenger, also from Portage la Prairie, was pronounced deceased on scene. No injuries were reported from the boat.

RCMP continue to investigate.
