The following is a sponsored advertorial on behalf of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ launched a new marketing campaign, Choose Downtown Winnipeg, to provide Manitobans with a platform to share their positive downtown experiences and celebrate what makes downtown Winnipeg unique and special today.
The campaign aims to amplify and champion the voices of those choose to live, work, study or visit downtown Winnipeg.
Kate Fenske, CEO of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ says too often negative experiences and current challenges are the focus of conversations and stories about downtown. “While governments, the private-sector and community organizations work collaboratively to address ongoing challenges – that we know are not unique to our community – it is important these are not the only stories being told about downtown.”
As such, the Choose Downtown Winnipeg campaign will shine a spotlight on the positive stories that often go untold. “We’re creating space for a new kind of dialogue – one that celebrates what makes downtown Winnipeg an incredible place to live, work, study, and visit – and we are inviting everyone to join the conversation”, said Fenske.
The Choose Downtown Winnipeg campaign will run from September 25 – October 30. People are encouraged to share their story (in-person or online) for a chance to win $5,000. Participants could also receive a free $25 Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Gift Card – that can be redeemed at over 200 downtown businesses – just for entering the contest. Manitobans can participate in-person by attending a Choose Downtown Winnipeg Pop-Up event or by submitting their story online.
“Our Choose Downtown Winnipeg campaign is more than just a platform for positive conversations; it is also a call to action”, Fenske noted. “This campaign is everyone’s opportunity to be part of the solution in changing the narrative about our downtown. Our downtown matters – its success is key to the success of our city and province.”
