Operation Red Nose Winnipeg will have a new host this festive season, as the Winnipeg Kids Foundation takes over from Manta Swim Club after 28 years of service.
The program, known for safely driving Winnipeggers and their vehicles home during the holidays, is now run by the non-profit focused on supporting underprivileged youth.
“Manta Swim Club has been a tremendous partner with Operation Red Nose Winnipeg, and we thank them for their exceptional drive to help get people home safely in the festive season,” said Matthew Barber, president of Winnipeg Kids Foundation.
“However, starting anew isn’t easy. We’re hoping Winnipeggers can help us as we come up to the holiday season.”
With new costs for website updates, volunteer support, and equipment, the foundation has kicked off an early fundraising campaign.
“So, we’re on a larger and earlier fundraising drive than normal this year. We are hopeful that Winnipeggers and local businesses will help,” added Elisha Dacey, media liaison for the program.
Operation Red Nose is backed by sponsors including Safety Services Manitoba and MPI. The official holiday campaign launch will take place in mid-November.
