Winnipeg police responded to a violent incident involving a stabbing on a city transit bus Tuesday night that left two people injured.

Officers were called to Portage Avenue and Valour Road at around 6:15 p.m. and found a 40-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter with injuries from an edged weapon.

According to police, the victims were involved in an unprovoked argument with three female suspects on the bus, which escalated into a physical assault. The attackers also robbed the victims before fleeing the scene. Both victims were treated at the hospital and later released.
