The Winnipeg 150 Mayor’s Ball recently raised more than $80,000 to support the city’s major performing arts organizations, including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Opera, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Held last month, the event gathered over 700 attendees to celebrate Winnipeg’s historic 150th anniversary. Funds from the ball will be divided equally among the four organizations, with the Winnipeg Foundation facilitating the distribution.
“For decades, these organizations have brought the stories of Winnipeg to life with their talent and artistry,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “The support shown at the Winnipeg 150 Mayor’s Ball demonstrates how much our community values the arts.”
As the city continues to mark its 150th year, more community events are planned in the coming months to celebrate Winnipeg’s cultural legacy.
