Starting January 1, 2025, property owners enrolled in Winnipeg’s Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) should prepare for higher monthly payments.

The adjustments stem from changes to Manitoba’s School Tax Rebate program, leading to an estimated 50 percent increase in the January 2025 payment compared to December 2024.

Additionally, adjustments for those who received supplemental bills in 2024 will be reflected in their TIPP payments.

The Canada Post work stoppage may delay letters notifying property owners of these changes before the automatic withdrawal date. However, information about January’s payment is available online through the My Properties portal. To access the portal, property owners will need their User ID and roll number, which are listed on recent Assessment Notices.

The increase in TIPP payments is in addition to the proposed 5.95 percent property tax increase by the City of Winnipeg. City council will vote on the preliminary 2025 budget at the end of January.
