Winnipeg police are investigating an attempted robbery of an armoured vehicle outside a bank in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard on Thursday.

At around 9:30 p.m., three masked suspects targeted two security guards. As one guard returned to the truck from the bank, he was grabbed from behind by an unknown male while two others demanded the vehicle be opened. When the driver was unable to do so immediately, the suspects fled in a dark-coloured car.

Neither guard was injured, and police were contacted. A black Volkswagen Jetta, believed to be involved, was later found abandoned in the 1900 block of McCreary Road.

Police describe the suspects as three tall males dressed in black and wearing face coverings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (204) 786-TIPS.
