Two individuals were arrested at Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport in separate incidents involving drug seizures, according to RCMP.
On December 19, Kenneth Ross, 32, from Gods Lake Narrows, was stopped by the Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET) and the Roving Traffic Unit (RTU) while attempting to board a flight to Gods River. Officers seized 49 grams of methamphetamine during a search. Ross was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and released with a court date.
Three days later, on December 22, security intercepted a package allegedly belonging to Tanya Okemow, 30, of Gods River, as she prepared to board a flight to the same destination. The package contained 67 grams of cocaine and 56 grams of methamphetamine. Okemow was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and was also released with a court date.
RCMP estimate the seized drugs’ street value in the community at between $50,000 and $70,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
