The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating the death of a woman following her arrest by RCMP officers earlier this week.

According to the IIU, the incident began on January 15, when officers responded to a 911 hang-up call at a residence in Vogar around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, police encountered a woman reportedly under the influence of drugs who allegedly attempted to use a weapon on someone in the home. She was arrested and taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released.
