Winnipeg’s popular Ice Cycles are back for the 2025 season after a cancelled 2024 run due to unseasonably warm weather.
With cool temperatures now lingering, riders can now enjoy this unique winter activity along the Nestaweya River Trail.
The season kicked off on January 11 at the Assiniboine Park duck pond during the inaugural We Are Winter event.
“We were disappointed that the 2024 season had to be cancelled, along with many who enjoy embracing winter hobbies, but it was simply too warm to operate,” said co-owner Sinan Leylek
“However, we were able to continue to grow to markets across Canada including sending a fleet of Ice Cycles to the City of Edmonton who provided free public rentals in 2024, and are now offering group outings in 2025”.
This season, Ice Cycles has a new permanent location at the Winnipeg Rowing Club (20 Lyndale Dr.) near the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers. Four models are available for rent, including the family-friendly tandem mini van, a tandem ice bike, the classic, and the ice trike.
Rentals can be booked in advance online at Spark Rentals, and walk-up rentals are also available.
