The University of Manitoba Faculty Association will vote this week on whether to strike.
“Professors, instructors, and librarians at Manitoba’s only research-intensive university need wages that keep up with inflation and are competitive with Canada’s other research universities,” said UMFA president Dr. Erik Thomson.
The union represents more than 1,300 professors, instructors, librarians, coaches and counsellors. Thomson said their collective Agreement expired last March.
Proposed salaries from the administration do not keep up with competitiveness or inflation, said Thomson.
The vote will take place until February 7.
