WINNIPEG — Hé Ho! Western Canada’s largest winter festival is back for another year. And this time, there isn’t any threat of the snow sculptures melting.
Watch Thursday’s media launch:
The 56th annual edition of Festival du Voyageur kicks off on Friday, spanning 10 days of winter fun.
New attractions this year include L’shed à Léo, an exhibition of objects and photos that Léo keeps in his shed from festivals of yesteryear; interactive self-guided activity tours of Fort Gibraltar, which will have festivalgoers interact with and discover more about life in the fort in 1815; a new outdoor lounge with bonfires, a beverage shack, art, information panels on maple syrup production and a daytime ice sculpting workshop.
“The Festival du Voyageur team is in full swing with planning this exciting and unique celebration, which will open its tents on Valentine’s Day evening this year,” said executive director Breanne Lavallée-Heckert.
This year’s festival will also feature performances by artists like The Barr Brothers, Corb Lund, Leif Vollebekk, Jill Barber, Roman Clarke, Ami Cheon, Al Simmons, Will’s Jams, and others.
