Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative Party has nominated Shawn Nason as their candidate in the Transcona byelection.
The former Winnipeg city councillor represented the local ward from 2018 to 2022.
Before a career in municipal politics, Nason worked as a special legislative assistant to provincial PC ministers Scott Fielding and Eileen Clarke and as a constituency manager for former federal Conservative MP Lawrence Toet.
“My years of community involvement have given me a deep understanding of Transcona’s unique needs. What’s inspired me most is seeing how everyone’s contribution, big or small, has made a meaningful impact to strengthen the community we call home,” Nason said in a statement.
Nason is the second candidate to be named in the riding. The provincial NDP nominated educator Shannon Corbett earlier this week, while the Manitoba Liberals have yet to announce their candidate.
The provincial byelection is set for March 18 to replace late NDP MLA Nello Altomare.
With the support of my family & friends, I will be seeking the nomination for the PC Party of Manitoba in Transcona.
